I tend to believe it was more the cultural preferences of the Jews being forced on the Gentile Christians. This is the theme of some of the other NT books (Romans, Galatians). They just couldn't accept the Gentiles as fully-cleansed brothers. How many "rules" do we enforce on new (or new to us) Christians that have no source in Scripture? Some good things came out of the Jerusalem Conference ... This "Jewish Style Christianity" wasn't one of them. I think they missed the boat. Is that scandalous?
